Avionics Cockpit Display Systems

Our main responsibility was for the detailed design of the power supply module (PSM) of the Avionics Cockpit Display System (CDS). This PSM is a multiple-output unit, designed in accordance with the relevant MIL-STDs, RTCA/DO-160 and EMC specifications. The creation of supporting documentation (i.e. FMEA, failure catalogue, etc.) and the PSM Acceptance Test Procedure form an integral part of this design role.

Defining specifications for building, testing, service and maintenance of AIC/AUC environment class PSU. This system was designed for automated testing (control, monitor, data acquisition, analysis, and product qualification) using LabVIEW tools. The following areas of experience are included:

  • Designing power converters for AIC (Airborne, Inhabited, Carrier) class aircraft
  • Designing power converters for AUC (Airborne, Uninhabited, Carrier) class aircraft
  • Design referenced to MIL-HDBK-217F, Notice 1
  • CPL (component part list) generation
  • FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis)
  • Functional Block diagram and functional block partitioning
  • CPL defect rate prediction
  • Critical item list identification of parts critical to the manufacture and maintenance
  • Equipment descriptions
  • Failure effect lists
  • PSM Acceptance Test Procedure
  • PCB design rule defining and component placement
  • Design of STTE (Special Type to Test Equipment) test rack and associated STTE test software design specification
